This newsletter is designed to whet your appetite for golf anywhere in the world. Each issue highlights special programs and specific destinations. I specialize in groups from 4 to 24 and can custom-design an itinerary or book you on a pre-existing group package. I can arrange everything for you: airfare, ground transportation, hotels, and tee times. I have visited almost every property in this report, so can speak from first-hand experience. Contact me if I can be of assistance. I look forward to working with you! VOLUME 7, NUMBER 1 – March 12, 2008 I’ve been busy adapting to my new surroundings at Esprit Rainbow Travel, and haven’t visited any new golf destinations this winter. I will be on the road again soon and should have a full report for you in my next newsletter. This is just a quick note to let you know I’m alive and well. I thought the Ryder Cup was worth mentioning before these packages are all gone. RYDER CUP. The 2008 match (aka Zinger vs. Faldo) will be played September 19-21 at Valhalla GG near Louisville. This is the most exciting event in sports – ask anyone who’s been. Can we finally win on home soil? Current US top 10: Tiger, Phil, Stewart Cink, Jim Furyk, Steve Stricker, Zach Johnson, Justin Leonard, J. B. Holmes, Steve Lowery, and Woody Austin. Euro top 10: Lee Westwood, Justin Rose, Heinrik Stenson, Nick Dougherty, Martin Kaymer, Steve Webster, Robert Karlsson, Soren Hansen, Soren Kjeldsen, and Miguel Angel Jimenez. Who are these guys? The Swedish luge team? There’s only one way to be part of the action. I have access to a limited number of packages which include 5 nights deluxe accommodations in downtown Louisville, daily breakfast, transfers to and from Valhalla, tickets to Thursday’s opening ceremonies and three days of matches, (with access to an air-conditioned pavilion with chairs, TVs, food, and drink), and all taxes. Call me before they’re sold out! There are three nonstops a day to Louisville from National and three from BWI. UPCOMING SITE VISITS. I’ll get to The Washington Duke Inn and Golf Course in Raleigh, NC in late April. The Inn is highly rated, as is the Robert Trent Jones course (reportedly among the top ten in North Carolina). In June, I’ll play Doonbeg in County Clare on my annual visit to the Old Sod. It’s one of the few great links courses I’ve yet to play on the West Coast. And sometime this summer, I’ll spend a few days at the newly renovated Bedford Springs Resort, which is only about a 2-hour drive from DC. The resort itself is supposed to be comparable to The Homestead, and the golf course spans the work of three golf architectural masters—Spencer Oldham, A.W. Tillinghast, and (my favorite) Donald Ross. Nice pedigree! Our "Inspired Journeys" are vacations whereby we have redefined travel through authentic experiences. These grand vacations are built around four dynamic themes of great appeal and then accompanied by field experts who share the personal experiences only an "insider" can reveal. You will enjoy special excursions as well as private social and educational events, all of which illuminate the theme. The four themes are Health & Self-realization, Epicurean Adventures; Family Vacations, and Mysterious Cultures. Please contact us today to find out more about these life enriching experiences. ALERT: New Document Requirements in Effect Jan. 31, 2008 The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the U.S. Department of State (DOS) remind the traveling public that as of Jan. 31, 2008, all adult travelers will be required to present proof of citizenship, such as a birth certificate, and proof of identity, such as a driver's license, when entering the United States through land and sea ports of entry.
