Dec 2004 Club Med Turquoise!!

I recently participated in a travel agent FAM trip to the Club Med resort in the Turk & Caicos Islands and would like to offer a short review.

From the very beginning I was impressed by the extremely efficient and friendly personnel of the resort. From the moment we cleared customs upon our arrival until the moment we were dropped off back at the airport for home, the resort personnel we had the pleasure to come in contact with were the most professional, efficient and helpful people imaginable.

The public areas of this resort are lovely. There is a large pool with adjoining bar area, a large open-air theater, a very clean, roomy restaurant and also a specialty restaurant, which unfortunately is not open every night. There is a beach bar, a fully equipped gym, a huge water sports center, large numbers of ping pong tables and pool tables, a scuba/snorkel center, a tennis center, a full sized basketball court, soccer field, beach volleyball, even a trapeze! Activities galore for everyone!

The food was plentiful and very good but after 3 days of buffets I was ready to be served a sit down, menu meal. The bar was lively and entertaining and offered enough variety that one might never tire of it!

Club Med Turk and Caicos has recently undergone an extensive upgrade, especially in their guest rooms, which have been refurbished and made very comfortable. All guest rooms offer two beds which can be made up into a king if desired, two closets, two safes, an ironing board/iron, a coffee maker and separate toilet and shower rooms. My room also had a very efficient and wonderfully quiet air conditioner that was much appreciated. My only complaint about the rooms was that there are no screens on the windows, something I found quite surprising considering the otherwise close attention to detail in the refurbishments.

The clientele at the resort during my visit were mostly French, Canadians, and singles from the United States. All of the other guests with whom I spoke were very pleased with the resort and like myself were enjoying themselves and glad they came. While I think most everyone would enjoy this resort, I would recommend Club Med Turks and Caicos especially for singles and young honeymooners with a price-point.
